Mirrors!

harleyandcocavoodl

As a responsible breeder, we strive to provide our puppies with the best possible start in life. One of the ways we do this is by introducing them to mirrors during their early development.

Why Mirrors Matter

  • Sensory Enrichment: Mirrors provide a novel and engaging sensory experience for young puppies. Their curiosity will lead them to explore their reflections, stimulating their senses and encouraging them to learn about their environment.

  • Social Development: While not a substitute for real-life interactions, mirrors can help puppies develop an understanding of body language and social cues. Watching their own movements in the mirror can help them recognize and interpret the movements of other dogs.

  • Confidence Building: For some puppies, the mirror can be a playful companion. They may engage in playful "play bows" or "mock fights" with their reflection, boosting their confidence and encouraging natural play behaviors.

How We Introduce Mirrors

We introduce mirrors to our puppies in a controlled and supervised environment. We monitor their interactions closely and ensure they are having a positive experience. We never force a puppy to engage with the mirror and always provide them with the option to step away if they feel overwhelmed.
