We are thrilled to share some exciting news from Harley & Co Cavoodles—Coco and Marley are expecting six puppies!
After confirming Coco’s pregnancy via ultrasound several weeks ago, we recently visited our reproductive veterinarian for an x-ray to get a more accurate puppy count before whelping. We are delighted to report that the x-ray has confirmed six puppies are growing beautifully and are expected to arrive around 7 June.
Why Do We Perform an X-Ray?
Many people are surprised to learn that an ultrasound can only provide an estimate of litter size.
During the earlier stages of pregnancy, puppies are still developing and can overlap or be hidden from view. An ultrasound is excellent for confirming pregnancy and assessing viability, but it is not always accurate for counting puppies.
An x-ray performed in the final week of pregnancy allows us to count the puppies’ skeletons once they have mineralised, giving us a much more reliable indication of how many puppies we can expect.
Knowing the expected litter size also helps us monitor Coco’s labour more closely and ensure that every puppy arrives safely.
Meet the Parents
This special litter combines two beautiful dogs with wonderful temperaments.
Coco
Coco is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves spending time with her family. She has a gentle nature and consistently passes on her calm, loving temperament to her puppies.
Marley
Marley is well known for his striking looks, rare blue eyes and friendly personality. He continues to produce beautiful puppies with excellent temperaments and stunning coat colours.
Together, these two make a truly exciting pairing.
Expected Colours and Traits
Based on the genetics of Coco and Marley, we may see a beautiful variety of colours within this litter, including:
- Chocolate
- Chocolate Abstract
- Black
- Black and White Abstract
- Blue Merle
- Chocolate Merle
- Red
- Red and White Abstract
Some lucky puppies may also inherit Marley’s stunning blue eyes.
As always, temperament remains our highest priority, and we are excited to see these puppies develop into the confident, family-focused companions that Harley & Co Cavoodles is known for.
The Final Countdown
Coco is now enjoying plenty of rest, nutritious food, and lots of love as she prepares for motherhood.
The final week of pregnancy is always an exciting time. We spend our days monitoring mum closely, preparing the whelping area, and making sure everything is ready for the puppies’ arrival.
If all goes according to plan, we should be welcoming six beautiful puppies into the world around 7 June.
